Liberty's Curry moves up all-time list at Mizzou

Then-Liberty North senior Ava Curry follows through on a throw in the javelin finals in May 2018 at the Missouri State High School Activities Association Championships at Jefferson City High School. Curry now throws javelin at Mizzou.

Liberty-native and Missouri freshman Ava Curry moved into the No. 2 spot all-time in the javelin at the University of Missouri-Columbia with a first-place finish March 28 in the B Section at the Texas Relays.

Curry’s throw of 166 feet 6 inches (50.74 meters) — in just her second collegiate meet — is just the second throw in Missouri history to surpass 50 meters, trailing only Hailey Twietmeyer’s 2014 mark of 51.17 meters.

The Liberty alumna opened her college career with a throw of 159’11” March 23 at the Herm Wilson Invitational.
