The Bulldogs defeated Ruskin 35-0 on Friday, Sept. 17, marking a day KJ Smith will remember for a long time as Kearney earned their first win of the season.
Smith accounted for all five touchdowns for Kearney as he rushed for 282 yards on 23 carries and four rushing touchdowns. Smith also had two catches for 19 yards that ended up with a score.
He did it all for the Bulldogs as Smith even added a two-point conversion to the scoreboard.
Kearney’s defense was up to the challenge as well. They allowed 202 yards of total offense as the offense steam rolled the Ruskin defense with 440 yards on 44 plays.
The Bulldogs defense picked off the Ruskin quarterback twice as they allowed only three completed passes the entire game.
Kearney will face off against Grain Valley at home on Friday, Sept. 24.
