KEARNEY — The adjectives to use to describe the championship of the Kearney classic on Friday, Jan. 13, are nearly endless. It was flawless, frustrating and euphoric all at the same time. Liberty North defeated St. Joseph Benton 52-49 for their second in-season tournament title of the year.

KEARNEY — The Bulldogs secured one of their best wins of the season on Monday, Jan. 9. Kearney (4-6) topped Park Hill 42-34 in the first round of the 48th Annual Kearney Classic. The Bulldogs defeated the Class 6 school utilizing a late-game run that pushed them over the top.

LIBERTY — Years of fundraising allowed for Liberty to take part in an amazing opportunity. The Blue Jays raised enough funds to travel to Florida for a basketball tournament while taking in the sights and sounds of the area theme parks. The only problem was the dreaded travel.

SMITHVILLE — Last season was full of memories and great victories for the Warriors. They made it all the way to the final four, taking fourth place in Class 5. This season, the team returns impact players from last year’s squad as they hope to make another deep run in the playoffs.
LIBERTY — Liberty North returns many of the same players back from last season. The Eagles finished last season with a 12-11 record as they ended the year with a loss to Park Hill in the first round of the district tournament.
