Kearney second, Smithville third at Suburban Blue girls golf

PLATTE CITY — The Kearney Bulldogs placed second and Smithville’s Mahlee Wohlford won medalist honors to pace the Warriors to a third-place finish at the Suburban Blue conference championships on Monday, Sept. 30, at Shiloh Springs Golf Course.

Kearney carded a team total of 403, just behind league champion Platte County, who shot a 399.

The Bulldogs had three individuals earn all-conference and inside the top 10 — third-place Ellyssa Gallinger (94), fifth-place Kenzi Kutch (98) and ninth-place Paige Ross.

Sophie Martin earned second team all-conference with an 11th-place finish after carding a 106. Jessica Riley was 19th with a 120.

For Smithville, Wohlford shot a 92 to win the individual conference title. The Warriors turned in a team total of 410, ahead of third-place Grandview’s 461 and fourth-place Winnetonka’s 497.

Emma Harris also earned league honors with her 105 good for a ninth-place finish. Brianna Lewis (106) and Kenzie Moes (107) took home second team all-conference after placing 13th and 14th place, respectively.

Jozie Kammier finished just outside of all-league consideration, shooting a 115 for 16th place.
