LIBERTY — The Eagles are coming off another successful year as they cement their position as one of the top golfing schools in the state. With a few players graduating last season, a new crop of players are determined to have a successful season this year.
Liberty North finished second at state last season and have been the top public school in the state for the past two seasons. This year, the Eagles will be led by Bailey Burkett, who won the individual state championship in 2021. She was the first player to do so in Liberty North history.
Along with Burkett, Kate Braden and Emmy Braden will be key contributors to the team this season. This trio has played a ton of summer golf, according to head coach Jeff Braden.
“We are returning three players that have an enormous amount of regular and postseason experience,” he said, “combined with newer players who have competitive experience, but will have to bring that experience to the next level. Should be an exciting season.”
The Eagles will look to go far into the postseason. The first tournament for Liberty North will be the MoKan invitational at Blue Hills Country Club on Monday, Aug. 29.
