KEARNEY — The Kearney girls swimming team won six events and landed in the top three of four more during the Ray-Pec Tri-meet Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Raymore-Peculiar High School. The Bulldogs finished second with 550 points, landing behind the host team’s 765 points and ahead of Smithville’s 159.
LIBERTY — Blue Jays graduating senior swimmer Madi Carmichael announced her commitment to compete for the William Jewell Women’s Swimming team this fall.

SMITHVILLE — The Smithville School District announced hiring Kyle Martin as its new head coach of the boys and girls swimming and diving teams.
Kearney girls swimming and diving team finished in second place at the Suburban Blue Conference Championship for the second straight season.
The Liberty North girls swim and dive team knew they were performing at the level needed to repeat as conference champions. The Eagles just didn’t know if they would be able to hold off a surging crosstown rival in the Liberty Blue Jays.
For three years, Kearney girls swimming and diving had a stranglehold on the Suburban Blue Conference title. But now Platte County stands as the reigning champs, and the Pirates don’t appear as if they’re going to give back the top spot in the league anytime soon.
LIBERTY — There may be something in the water with Liberty’s girls swim team. The Blue Jays, who haven’t won a conference title or a state trophy, will look to take a step forward this season with experience and depth at their disposal.
