KANSAS CITY — The Kearney Bulldogs girls tennis team took fourth place at the eight-team Oak Park Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 28.
“This tournament was a fun one for us to attend,” first-year Kearney coach Kaitlyn LaFrenz said. “There were some very experienced teams there, which made for some hard competition that led to all around great matches to watch.”
In No. 1 doubles, Anya Dunn and Annelise Dunn teamed up to take third place, the team’s highest placing on the day. At No. 2 doubles, Emily Shepherd and Josie Holst took fourth place.
In No. 1 singles, Sara Dillon earned fourth place while Gena Michaelis took sixth at No. 2 singles. Shepherd and Holst paired up to place fourth in No. 2 doubles.
“Our athletes fought through the cold weather and played very well,” LaFrenz said.
