Liberty boys ousted in state sectionals

LIBERTY — The Liberty boys basketball team lost to Staley 47-39 in the state sectionals Wednesday, March 11, at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence.

Liberty entered the game on a five game win streak with senior Grant Stubbs averaging a double-double with 18.4 points and 11.8 rebounds, up from his season average of 18.0 and 9.8.

The Blue Jays lost to the Falcons for the second straight time this season after losing 58-37 in February. Liberty beat Staley 54-48 in the teams’ first matchup back in January.
