LIBERTY — The Eagles took control early and refused to let up for the first three quarters as the team built a six score lead on the way to a 42-7 victory for Liberty North football over Blue Springs Friday, Sept. 25 at Liberty North High School.
KEARNEY — After falling behind four scores in the first half, Kearney football never got closer than down 21 points as Grain Valley's high-powered offense dominated in a 38-14 game.
SMITHVILLE — Smithville football team never got going Friday, Sept. 25, as Platte County controlled the action throughout a 28-7 loss for the Warriors at Smithville High School.
LIBERTY — Liberty junior running back Wentric Williams III has made a habit of piling on yards and touchdowns late in games to help the Blue Jays pull away.
LIBERTY — Liberty boys basketball guard/forward Jermaine Booker announced his commitment to play basketball at Central Methodist University in 2020-21.
KEARNEY — Kearney boys basketball already had to find a replacement for its head coach, but now the Bulldogs will have to find a new leading scorer.
GLADSTONE— Liberty swim and dive team finished third in a tough field at the NKC Invitational Saturday, Sept. 19 at Gladstone Community Center.
Liberty North junior swimmer Jake Anderson-Jones competes in the 400-yard freestyle relay on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Liberty Community Center. Liberty won the meet with 638 points to the Eagles' 492, which earned Liberty North second place.
The Liberty swim and dive team won a Truman-hosted quad in dominant fashion on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Henley Aquatic Center in Independence.
KEARNEY — Kearney track and field athlete Cade Schwarzenbach announced his commitment to continuing his jumping career at Missouri Western State University this fall.
KEARNEY — Kearney track and field athlete Payton Morrison announced her commitment to continue her jumping career at Hastings College in Nebraska in 2020.
SMITHVILLE — After Smithville soccer finished its own invitational tournament without a single goal, the Warriors fired away over its next two games as the team outscored its opponents 10-1.
LIBERTY — Liberty soccer won both its games this week as the team improved its record to 4-3 and 2-3 in the Suburban Gold conference play this season.
Liberty North soccer lost a 1-0 match against Blue Springs at home Wednesday, Sept. 23. The Eagles dropped their third straight match after opening the season with four straight wins.
KEARNEY — Kearney soccer ended a three-game losing streak and returned its record to .500 with a 4-1 victory on the road over Winnetonka on Thursday, Sept. 24.
LIBERTY — The William Jewell men's and women's cross country teams opened the season Friday, Sept. 25, at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Triangular. The Cardinals competed in Pod 5, hosted by Truman State, in the first official GLVC action in more than six months.
The Liberty and Liberty North boys and girls cross country teams battled each other in the Gold Division of the Gans Creek Classic Saturday, Sept. 26 in Columbia. The teams split which school would have bragging rights with a higher team finish.
LIBERTY — Liberty boys and girls cross country teams took home first-place finishes at the Kris Solsberg Invite on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Lee’s Summit North High School.
LIBERTY — Liberty North cross country boys and girls teams finished third in the Mill Valley Invite at Shawnee Mission Park in Shawnee, Kansas. The Eagles finished behind Olathe North and Mill Valley, a team that won the Kansas state championship last season.
LIBERTY — Liberty boys and girls cross country teams both took third place in the 23-team field at the Raymore-Peculiar XC Invitational Saturday, Sept. 12 in Peculiar.
LIBERTY — Liberty softball rattled off five straight victories to win the 2020 September Slam this weekend at the Capitol Federal Sports Complex of Liberty. The Blue Jays finished off the tournament with a 5-1 win over previously unbeaten Grain Valley.
LIBERTY — Liberty girls tennis won two of its three duals over the past week. The Blue Jays beat Raymore-Peculiar 7-2 on Sept. 24 and Staley 6-3 on Monday, Sept. 28 before losing to Park Hill 5-4 on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

LIBERTY — Liberty North girls golf finished second as a team at its Liberty North Invitational Monday at WinterStone Golf Course in Independence. The Eagles shot 336, 21 shots behind Notre Dame’s 315 to win the event.
LIBERTY — Liberty North girls golf may have a legitimate shot at being in the top three at every tournament the team plays in if Eagles head coach Jeff Braden has his way.

LIBERTY — Liberty North volleyball improves to 10-0 on the season after beating Blue Springs South 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
LIBERTY — The Liberty and Kearney volleyball teams entered a match on Monday, Sept. 28 with each team on three-plus game winning streaks. The Blue Jays were able keep their streak going with a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs.
KEARNEY — Kearney volleyball earned two sweeps this week to improve to 4-2 on the season after its 3-0 win over conference foe Winnetonka Thursday, Sept. 17 at Kearney High School.
LIBERTY — William Jewell men's tennis team dropped their home opener by a final of 6-1 on Saturday to Missouri Valley to fall to 0-2 on the year.
