SMITHVILLE — Warriors junior pitcher Makaela Carr announced she will attend Florida International University in 2021.

Carr pitched 82.1 innings in 15 starts through 19 games last season. She struck out 112 batters and had a 3.32 ERA.

During her sophomore year, the Smithville southpaw earned a no-hitter in a 16-0 win against Notre Dame de Sion at the 2018 Greater Kansas City Tournament.

The Warriors finished the 2019 season with a 17-11 record after reaching the district finals for the eighth straight season, which includes a third-place state finish during Carr’s freshman year.

She claimed Class 3 second team all-state honors during her junior year and will look to build upon her resume next season.
