LIBERTY — The Blue Jays continue to collect hardware after completing one of the most impressive seasons in Missouri wrestling history.
SMITHVILLE — Smithville wrestler Devan Lewis announced his commitment to continue his career on the mat at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.
Area wrestlers will compete in the 28th annual Kansas City Metro Classic Tuesday, March 10. The KC Metro Classic pits top seniors from Missouri and Kansas against each other in a folkstyle dual tournament.
Three area wrestlers advanced past the first round of the Missouri State High School Activities Association Girls Wrestling State Championships in Columbia, with one more able to pick up a victory in the backside of the bracket.
KANSAS CITY — Liberty has climbed up the leaderboard of the Class 4 District 4 boys wrestling meet every season since Dustin Brewer became head coach in 2016. It seemed like the Blue Jays had nowhere left to climb after winning the district team title last season.
BELTON — Coby Aebersold knew he could walk into the Missouri Class 3 District 4 tournament this past weekend at Belton High School and take care of business. He had already done so last year as the 160-pound district champion before capping his season off with an individual state title.
LIBERTY — Lance Moore accepted the job of Liberty North head wrestling coach this fall fully prepared to initiate a five-year rebuilding project. The Eagles had two returning seniors who qualified for state last year and a wealth of talented, but mostly inexperienced, underclassmen.
KANSAS CITY — Over the past two high school wrestling seasons, Liberty has won each and every tournament it has entered except for one. The Blue Jays have their revenge.
KEARNEY — Kearney High School junior Jacob Jackson is a junior varsity grappler with a mix of fierceness and thoughtfulness.
LIBERTY — Vincent Restivo and Andrew Stephenson return as state qualifiers to lead a Liberty North wrestling team under new direction.
