Seven area wrestlers qualified for state at the girls district meet in Kearney this past weekend.

Kearney hosted the Missouri State High School Activities Association District 4 girls wrestling tournament on Feb. 7-8, where two members of their team qualified for state by winning the district championship in their weight division.

Junior Lexie Cole won the district championship at 235 pounds. Although Cole is the reigning state champion at 235 pounds, she had some unfinished business at district. Cole lost in the semifinals last year before qualifying for state via wrestlebacks.

Senior Emalie Olson won the district championship at 115 pounds after winning at 103 last year. Olson was a scratch for her state championship match in 2019.

The Warriors finished third place as a team with four state qualifiers. Senior Chloe Williams earned second place and Veronica McNeese finished third. Juniors Kaylee Vaughan and Jessie Edwards placed fourth.

Liberty North

Junior Erma Williams took first place in the 152-pound weight class. Williams is the first district placer and state qualifier in Liberty North girls wrestling history.
