Liberty's Penner commits to the University of Oklahoma

Liberty wrestler Greyden Penner recently committed to the University of Oklahoma.

LIBERTY — Liberty High School wrestler Greyden Penner announced his commitment to the University of Oklahoma Sooners.

“I’m proud to announce I’ve committed to the University of Oklahoma to pursue my wrestling and academic career,” the two-time state champion penned on Twitter Sunday, Aug. 4. “I want to thank all my coaches, family, and anyone else who has supported me. Excited for a new chapter!”

Penner, a senior-to-be at LHS, won his first Class 4 state title as a freshman at 145 pounds and his second as a junior at 170 pounds. He took second as a sophomore at 160 pounds.

Last month, Penner took seventh place to earn all-American honors in the Greco junior division of the USA Wrestling Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.
