SMITHVILLE — As fall gets closer, Smithville Warrior football is steadily working toward the new campaign. However, this year will look a little different for the team after Warrior legend and nineyear coach Jason Ambroson, who guided the program to a Class 4 state championship in 2021 and four district titles, was announced as the next helm of the William Jewell football team in late December last year.
KEARNEY — A new chapter is coming for Kearney volleyball as the team heads into its first season under coach Kathryn Cash. The Bulldogs will also look to a few unfamiliar faces to help carry the team forward this year after graduating three all-conference players from last season: Addie Andrew, Mallory Jury and Kate Martens.
SMITHVILLE — Under third-year coach Dave Tyner, Smithville volleyball is set to enter a new season and looking to do so with a nearly entirely new lineup. After winning the KC Suburban Blue Conference last fall, the Warriors will try to defend their title after losing seven starters to graduation.
LIBERTY — Liberty volleyball is preparing for the start of a new season, and the team heads into the campaign with a target on its back after winning the KC Suburban Silver Conference last fall. However, the Blue Jays will have a strong core of experienced and talented returners to defend their title.
KEARNEY — Bulldogs boys soccer is opening a new chapter as it nears the start of a new season under first-year coach Matt Reynolds. Reynolds also brought in assistant coaches Mike Tichenor and Josh Russell to help guide the team into the future.
SMITHVILLE — Smithville boys soccer is heading into a new season after winning the KC Suburban Blue Conference just last fall. On the path to defend their title, the Warriors will look to replace the impact from the five athletes who graduated from last year’s squad, including two all-state midfielders, and they’ll have a group of experienced veterans to do it.
LIBERTY — Liberty North boys soccer is nearing a new season and is looking to revamp for another run at the crown in the KC Suburban Gold Conference. Last season, the Eagles went 16-6 overall, finished 5-3 in the conference and won the conference title.
LIBERTY — Summer is quickly coming to a close, and Liberty High School is one of many looking forward to another year. With the start of a new school year, the fall sports season is quickly approaching.
