LIBERTY — As a new school year gets underway, the start of a new season for fall sports teams will soon be here. Liberty North High School signaled the quickly-approaching season and introduced its fall sports teams with its Fall Flight Night Aug.
LIBERTY — A new season is set to start soon and Liberty’s cross country programs are aiming to put together another pair of strong campaigns. The Blue Jays will be loaded with experience as they look to defend a pair of KC Suburban Silver Conference championships from a season ago.
KEARNEY — With the start of another football season nearly here, Kearney is looking to defend its Class 4 state title from last fall. The season got another step closer as the Bulldogs signaled the end of their first official week of practice with the Purple and Gold Midnight Scrimmage Aug.

KEARNEY — Thanks to Kearney Rotary Club, members of the Kearney community wound up in jail, but of a different variety and for a different reason than you may think. For $10, community members could nominate someone to the Rotary who was served a “warrant” and had to raise $100 for bail to get out of the cardboard jail, put up July 25 in front of Price Chopper off Watson Drive.
The Missouri Department of Transportation is inviting the public to join the discussion on priority unfunded transportation needs in their areas. Missouri’s transportation system includes 33,811 miles of roads and 10,392 bridges and culverts, making it one of the largest of any state in the nation.
SMITHVILLE — The city of Smithville has vacancies on two volunteer citizen committees: economic development and parks and recreation. As with most cities, volunteer citizen commissions and committees are seen as an integral part of local government.
