Kearney football improved their record to 2-0 on the season after walking away with a 45-8 win over Grandview Friday, Sept. 6. Senior running back Tristan Williams led the Bulldogs to their victory, with four of the team’s five touchdowns.

SMITHVILLE — A recess aide supervises students during recess periods, aiming to create a cooperative and safe atmosphere, and assisting with play. At Horizon Elementary in Smithville, Robert McBee not only fulfills this role, but exceeds it for the 450 students at the school.
CLAY COUNTY — The American Red Cross states there is a continuing critical need for blood products to ensure patient care.Type O blood donors and those giving platelets are especially needed. In Clay County, there are seven blood drives through the end of September where donations can be made.
LIBERTY — For more than a decade, Patti Stark, the owner of Serenity on the Square, has been leading the Moonlight Yoga series in Stocksdale Park. Stark asks for donations for the dog park within the park before each yoga session.

CLAY COUNTY — Mid-Continent Public Library System’s Food for Fines program has returned for another year, starting Monday, Sept. 9 and running through Sunday, Sept. 16. The program allows library customers the opportunity to pay off fines and fees with donations of nonperishable food items, which benefit local charities.
