SMITHVILLE — It was a bit of an unusual night for Smithville girls soccer as it fell 2-1 to St. Pius X High School Tuesday, April 22.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded an $80,000 Clean Water Integrated Management Plan Grant to the city of Kearney to evaluate its wastewater, stormwater and drinking water systems, according to a state press release.

CLAY COUNTY — Several law enforcement groups participate in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications, according to the DEA.

April is National Garden Month, and April 20-26 is National Volunteer Week. In Missouri, almost 3,000 volunteer Extension Master Gardeners donate their time and expertise to advance the program’s mission of “helping others learn to grow,” according to a press release.
