James “Jim” Everett Fisher, II, 66, of Kansas City, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Liberty Hospital. Jim was born on January 17, 1958, in Smithville, the son of James Everett Fisher, Sr. and Jacqueline (Kist) Fisher. Unfortunately, his father died in an automobile accident prior to his birth. Survivors include: his mother, Jackie Butch of Kansas City; two aunts, Michele Kist of Polo and Jerre (Stan) VanSooy of Leawood, KS; and several cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his father and his uncle, Larry Kist. Jim was raised and educated in the Smithville area, where he attended high school. From an early age, he developed a deep love for the great outdoors. By the age of 10, he could identify many birds by their calls and name all the different trees in the area. While he appreciated all aspects of nature, his true passion was duck hunting, a hobby he pursued avidly throughout his life. Jim’s career was marked by his dedication and enthusiasm. He spent his working years as a salesman for JR Electric in Liberty. Later, he achieved his dream job as a salesman at Cabela’s, where he could share his love for the outdoors with others. Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his adventurous spirit and his passion for nature. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either St. Jude’s Hospital for Children or Grace Episcopal Church in Liberty.
