2025 trial date set for man accused of murder, rape, torture

CLAY COUNTY – A two-week, December 2025 trial is set for Timothy Haslett Jr., the Excelsior Springs man facing 10 felony charges including rape, murder and kidnapping.Haslett appeared in Clay County Circuit Court last week as the court addressed preservation of the key witness’ testimony and schedule upcoming court dates.

Liberty council approves spends down general fund by $3.5 million

LIBERTY — The Liberty City Council approved spending down the general fund by $3.5 million.Finance Director Vicki McClure explained that the city’s general fund policy typically has the fund, used for general city expenses, around 20% of total revenues, but due to “financial stewardship and prudence,” the fund balance was sitting at almost 40% before the spend down.
