Park University’s Howell Awards recognize leadership achievements from 2024-25 academic year

PARKVILLE — In celebration of the leadership achievements of Park University students, faculty and staff during the 2024-25 academic year, the Office of Student Life and the Park Student Government Association announced recipients of honors as part of the 30th annual Dr. Doris A. Howell Leadership Awards. The awards program, held last month, is named for Howell, a 1944 Park graduate who was an internationally renowned leader in pediatrics and hospice care before passing away in November 2018.

Insect farming provides added value byproducts

When thinking about farming, insects are usually not something that comes to mind. However, there is work being done to use insects in existing agricultural food systems to produce proteins. Among the insects being looked at for raising and breeding are crickets, mealworms and black soldier flies. They are actually called micro livestock.

Liberty receives Spire Silver Shovel award

In recognition of a flawless year with no damages to gas pipelines, Spire is honoring Missouri municipalities, including Liberty, with their annual Silver Shovel award, a recognition created in 2019 to thank local governments for putting a strong focus on safety, according to a Spire press release.
