BRENDA SUE KIRKENDOLL

Brenda Sue Kirkendoll was born April 8, 1943 in Farber, Missouri to Clark and Evelyn Green. She attended Vanfar Schools and graduated in May of 1961. While at school, she was able to capitalize on her 6 foot height by playing center on the high school basketball team.
After graduation, while working at the Bobby Brooks garment factory in Vandalia, Missouri, she met John Kirkendoll and it was love at first sight, at least for one of them. They soon married and relocated to Liberty, Missouri where they started their family. First to arrive was James Clark (Jim) Kirkendoll in May of 1968 and 18 months later, John Cameron arrived. These boys were John and Brenda’s pride and joy.
Brenda was not afraid of a hard day’s work or getting her hands dirty. Brenda had a green thumb and always had beautiful and productive flower and vegetable gardens. Her kitchen continually had the aroma of the very best comfort foods cooking. Outside the home she worked for Guy’s Potato Chips, in the accounting department, she worked with Sandy Williams refurbishing antique furniture, she helped John manage John’s Cards and Gifts, finally she worked at Hillcrest Hope Thrift Store until she was diagnosed with dementia and was not able to work any longer.
Over the years Brenda wore many hats that included, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Christian, gardener, thrifter, cook, bookkeeper, antique collector and avid garage saler! One of Brenda’s most favorite roles was being a grandparent. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and teaching them the ins and outs of cooking, gardening and finding the best deals at local garage sales.
Even though she had advanced symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, her love for Mexican food, thrifting and loving on her great-grandbabies never left her.
Brenda is survived by her son, Jim (Holly) Kirkendoll, John (Karri) Kirkendoll, grandchildren: Tyler (Madison) Kirkendoll, Shelbie (Alex) Waddle, Gracie (Rhees) Hancock, and Jack Kirkendoll and her two great-grandbabies, Avery and Olliver.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Kirkendoll.
A Celebration of her life will be held at: Liberty Church of Christ at 1401 Glenn Hendren Dr., Liberty, Missouri, 64068 at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served.
