LIBERTY — Bill Stilfield is the consummate performer. His skills as a musician are top notch, but his desire to see venues and his fellow performers thrive is even more notable.

Dr. Gene T. Chavez, an area historian known for documenting the life experiences of Mexican and other immigrants in the Midwest, will be speaking at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the Watkins Mill Visitor Center, 26600 Park Road N., Lawson.

CLAY COUNTY — With Memorial Day weekend approaching, the communities of Kearney, Liberty and Smithville are gearing up to add some water fun to the agenda.

KEARNEY — Starting late next month, Kearney’s Lions Park, 106 S. Jefferson St., will be a popular place to be as the city introduces Food & Flick Fridays.

For 28 years, the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the city of Gladstone, has worked to bring well-known blues bands to the Northland. These groups are known locally, regionally and internationally.

LIBERTY — During the past couple of years, the city of Liberty and the Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce have united to manage the event capacity, parking passes have been required to enter Liberty Fest.
