Arrest nets enough fentanyl to kill 327,000 people

CLAY COUNTY — Deputies with Clay County Sheriff ’s Office seized enough fentanyl during an arrest last week that has the potential to kill 327,000. The bust, the biggest fentanyl bust in Clay County history, came when Josiah J. Langston, 21, was arrested Aug. 15 in the 3900 block of North Skiles Avenue after deputies had been looking for Langston due to a felony drug trafficking warrant for his arrest.

Owners permanently close Liberty outdoor store after burglary

LIBERTY — This week, Dan and Heidi Mull voluntarily surrendered their federal firearms license for their downtown Liberty outdoor equipment and gun dealer business, Adventure Outdoors, to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. This signals the permanent closure of the business. Dan said the closure is part of the aftermath of last month’s brazen burglary of the business.

Registration open for Jesse James Festival events

KEARNEY — Registrations for events in the annual Jesse James Festival in Kearney are open. The annual festival will take place this year Sept. 14 and 20 through 22.
