LIBERTY — The Liberty City Council will consider a second reading Jan. 27 of language expected for an April ballot issue that would ask voters to increase the city’s general sales tax by 1% to fund a police department expansion and public safety department salaries. The added 1% tax could generate about $7.5 million annually if approved.
