Anybody who has lived in rural Missouri will tell you fueling small businesses’ growth and creating jobs here is difficult. In many of our counties, where agricultural and manufacturing success are critical, there have been few options for accessing flexible capital needed to grow a business, purchase equipment and machinery, hire skilled workers and increase production.
I saw some advice online directed to upperclassmen, encouraging them to be a leader, help younger players and not be the cool guy that makes the younger students’ lives miserable. I liked the advice, but I believe as the school year is fast approaching, this advice can really be applied to us all.
Remember when ice cream came from cows, with all the nasty hormones, antibiotics, pus cells and saturated fat? When you could only have one to keep from getting sick? When people with lactose intolerance couldn’t have any?
In elementary school, we all learned about the three equal, but separate, branches of government: the legislative branch to create our laws; the judicial branch to interpret the laws; and the executive branch to implement the laws as written. However, much of that governmental lesson was turned on its head 40 years ago, with the U.S. Supreme Court’s Chevron ruling.
