Newcomers set to make impact for Kearney girls tennis

KEARNEY — Kearney girls tennis is heading into a new season looking to defend its KC Suburban Blue Conference title from last fall with a slew of newcomers ready to make an impact. The Bulldogs will look to fill the void left by the 12 athletes who graduated from last year’s squad, including all-conference tennis players Eliza Lohman, Madelyn Stuart, Charleigh Elliot, Alexis Nevins and Hannah Wermelskirchen.

Smithville football catches glimpse of team under new leadership during scrimmage

SMITHVILLE — As fall gets closer, Smithville Warrior football is steadily working toward the new campaign. However, this year will look a little different for the team after Warrior legend and nineyear coach Jason Ambroson, who guided the program to a Class 4 state championship in 2021 and four district titles, was announced as the next helm of the William Jewell football team in late December last year.

Eagles soccer revamps roster

LIBERTY — Liberty North boys soccer is nearing a new season and is looking to revamp for another run at the crown in the KC Suburban Gold Conference. Last season, the Eagles went 16-6 overall, finished 5-3 in the conference and won the conference title.

Smithville boys soccer returns strong core for new season

SMITHVILLE — Smithville boys soccer is heading into a new season after winning the KC Suburban Blue Conference just last fall. On the path to defend their title, the Warriors will look to replace the impact from the five athletes who graduated from last year’s squad, including two all-state midfielders, and they’ll have a group of experienced veterans to do it.
