James Edward Jaggers of Zephyrhills, FL, formerly of Holt, MO, passed away on February 5, 2025 at age 87, while in hospice care with his son’s family.
Born and raised in southern Oklahoma, Jim was one of eight children of William and Beatrice Jaggers. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics from Kansas State University, he began a career with Trans World Airlines and moved to the Kansas City area, eventually settling in Holt, MO. Jim was a founding member of the Church of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Kearney, MO and an original member of the St. Michaels council of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim loved to fish for trout at Bennett Spring park and was an avid gardener and apple grower. He was also a sports fan who loved his Chiefs and Bucs. In his younger days he was a member of the Knights of Columbus softball team with the nickname “Whitey”. In his later years golf was his sport of choice. He and his wife Deanna eventually moved to Zephyrhills, FL living in a retirement community in the Sunshine state.
Jim leaves behind his two sons, James L. Jaggers and wife, Kim, and William A. Jaggers and wife, Pam, as well as five grandchildren, Michael Jaggers of Kearney, MO., Shayla Jaggers Cumsille of Holt, MO., Kevin Wiley of Clearwater, FL, Amanda Cannon of Largo, FL and Michelle Reliford of Independence, MO. Jim also had eight great-grandchildren and a special friend, B.J. Rambo, with whom he spent his last 15 years.
There will be an informal celebration of life on Saturday February 22 at 1:00 pm at the Annunciation Community Center, 705 N. Jefferson St., Kearney, MO. An additional celebration will take place in Zephyrhills, FL on March 8, 2025.
