The Clay County Sheriff’s Office released an illustration by Piper-Wind Architects of the the center’s new rural Kearney site off Northeast 116th Street. It will include classroom space, a tactics training area and an indoor-only shooting range. The Clay County Commission approved the conditional use permit in mid-August. Clay County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Manager Sarah Boyd said requests for proposals from construction companies will be accepted in October. She said a groundbreaking should be in early spring with a projected yearlong build time. Submitted Illustration
