LIBERTY — As the afternoon sun pierced through a mix of clouds, Liberty and Liberty North softball met for the first crosstown showdown of the school year Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Nearly nine months after the program’s first state trophy, Liberty North softball team started the new season with the Midwest High School Invite Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29 and 30, at Mid-America Sports Complex in Shawnee, Kansas.
LIBERTY — Last November, the season ended in storybook fashion for Liberty North softball as the team walked off an 8-7 win for the program’s first state trophy with a third-place finish in Class 5.
The best softball players in the Kansas City area were recently recognized with The Earl Awards.

LIBERTY — It was a tough ending to the season for Liberty North girls basketball with a 57-53 loss to North Kansas City in the first round of the Class 6 District 8 Tournament Thursday, March 6.
LIBERTY — With only seconds left in overtime, Liberty North girls basketball junior Alex Couch got the ball just beyond the arc and let the 3-point shot fly.
